Just got a fresh batch of insightful edits from my agent and am going to dive into cleaning up my WIP this August.
I get to color in each day that I work on my edit plan.
I am one of those writers who LOVES drafting, but finds editing a challenge.
However, I’m learning to push myself to embrace the undoing/unknowing of editing and to realize that I just can’t produce the best story in draft 1…or 2 or 3 or however many it takes. It just doesn’t work like that.
The only way you get to the best version of a story is by crafting it, and that crafting can only happen after it’s been drafted. My mindset is a work-in-progress, just like this book.
And this book, in case you’re wondering what I’m working on, is another fairytale retelling (can’t stop, won’t stop with my beloved fairy tales ?) with arrows and falcons and wolves and a girl who learns to master them.
